TOP TEN QUESTIONS

# 10)  Where do we start to get a Budget Quote?

You need to know your maximum and minimum product size and weight you need the tilt tray to handle.  You need to know how many items you plan to sort an hour on your busiest day or a projected year.  And last you need to know how many open destination you need during a given period of time or wave.

 # 9)  Can you help with the layout drawing?

Yes, we would be happy to help with the early concept drawings, even when you know the project is a couple years away.

 # 8)  How do we decide what size of system we need?

Normally, the size of a system is driven by the number of discharge points needed.

To estimate length -  Number of Discharges X  4' (Chute centers) / 2 (sides to   the sorter) + 100'  (curves and induction)

So...pretend you need 200 active destinations, on 4' centers, you need 800' of sorter divided by 2 sides equals 400' of sorter.  Add  100' for Induction area and curves and you are around a 500' sorter.

 # 7)  How much does something like this cost?

Gross & Associates "Rules of Thumb" for Warehousing & Distribution Equipment Costs" guide gives these round budget numbers:

  • $ 4,500 to $5,000 per linear foot Installed

  • $ 25,000 per Manual Induction Area (5 Stations)

  • $ 50,000 per Automation Induction Station

  • $ 5000 to $15,000 per Divert Chute

  • $ 100,000 to $250,000 for Custom Control Software

* These will get you in the Ballpark!  Remember each system is different and finial pricing could be more or LESS depending on Layout design, Chute complexity and custom software.

 # 6)  How long does it take to install a typical Tilt - Tray system?

From P.O. to Sign Off is usually 7-9 months, depending again on Size, Chute and Software complexity.

 # 5)  How will our software package work with Mantissa's software?

Mantissa has developed interfaces with many of the most common WMS and WCS systems.  We also work directly with your IT department on interfaces with your custom "Home Grown" systems.  Mantissa uses various interfaces to bridge the gap between the two systems such as TCP/IP, FTP, Message Queue, MQ Series and SQL to SQL.

 # 4)  This is not a new facility, what about our existing system?

We will work with you to develop an integrated plan that will minimize the change over from the existing system to the new system.  We have worked with many companies over the years in the same situation, lets us help you decide what to do and more importantly not to do!

 # 3)  How much of the Integration does Mantissa usually manage?

We can provide Full System Integration from assisting with Conveyor System Layout and Design; provide a Single Point Control Package for all Conveyors, Sorters, and Peripheral Devices such as scanners and scales.  Complete System Project Management and Installation, or we can provide Equipment Only solution with an Installation Supervisor.

 # 2) Can we visit your facility?

Absolutely - We have a "Real" tilt tray in our testing facility.  We can show you - your product - sorted on your custom designed prototype chute, before ya'll have committed anything!
